How to Scrape Your Tongue Using a Tongue Scraper?

What's the best way to scrape my tongue?

The following tips will help you get the most out of tongue scraping:

  • Choose a copper tongue scraper or stainless steel tongue scraper. Copper is what is recommended in Ayurveda. You can buy the KÖPPEN Copper Tongue Scraper here
  • Run your tongue scraper under warm water for approximately 10-15 seconds before applying it to your tongue.
  • Hold the tongue scraper with both hands for better control and comfort. Positioning your index fingers at each end will provide more stability. You may want to try bending your scrapers slightly to give it a bit of curvature, which can make it easier to handle and improve its ability to fit inside your mouth comfortably while also reaching all areas of the tongue.
  • Place the middle of the scraper as far back on your tongue as possible while keeping a firm grip on both ends. Be careful not to push too hard, though; scraping too vigorously can cause damage and bleeding In some cases. This can be avoided by gently pressing down on just one side of your tongue with your finger

How often should I clean my tongue?

We recommend scraping your tongue every morning and every evening before you brush your teeth.

And in the same way that you change your toothbrush every three months, you should replace your tongue scraper every 90 days as well.

Will it hurt or taste bad? No, but you might be surprised at what you see!

How does it taste?

Well, a lot of people will tell you that tongue scraping removes a layer of "white film" from their tongue. This is totally right! But what they might not tell you is that in most cases, the white film is actually a layer of bacteria and toxins. Removing this layer means cleaner breath, better digestion and improved health overall.

When I first learned about the practice of tongue scraping, I was skeptical. But after years of trying every kind of breath mint and toothpaste on the market to no avail, I was desperate enough to give it a try. After just one week of taking five minutes first thing in the morning to scrape my own tongue (and then brush my teeth), I noticed an immediate difference: not only did my mouth feel fresher than ever before but also my body felt much lighter as well! And since then? Well let's just say there hasn't been any turning back for me...
